How we transformed a beautiful mug into a unique candle keepsake

We thought we'd share a truly heart-warming moment from the shop recently. It perfectly captures why we love what we do - and why people love what we do, too!

We all have those sentimental bits and bobs. These are items that hold a lifetime of memories, often too old to use but too valuable to throw away. More often than not, they end up tucked away in a cupboard, gathering dust ...

A lovely lady with this very problem popped in with a charming ceramic cup. It was a beautiful piece, with blue plum colours and subtle gold detailing. A treasured trinket from a special holiday, it had been sitting in her cupboard for some time. And now, she was trying to decide what to do with it.

The Dilemma: Keepsake or Clutter?

The mug was too precious to her to be used for its intended purpose but she didn't want it to be hidden away, she wanted to display it with pride and that's where we came in. The mug now has a second purpose and fills its surroundings with beautiful scent.

We likely all have items like this! An antique teacup that may have come from a grandparent. Or perhaps some unique pottery bought on a honeymoon. Or more commonly, the first wonky bowl that your child brought home from art class. Such a shame! 🤔

Being sentimental softies ourselves, we devised a plan to give her mug a beautiful, practical second life.

To the Creation Station!

We began the bespoke process of turning it into a beautiful, fragrant piece of home décor.

Working closely with our lovely customer, we had her choose every single detail, ensuring the new candle reflected both the mug's character and her own taste:

• The Scent: We selected a soft, comforting fragrance—something nostalgic that reminded her of days gone by.

• The Wax: We used our premium soy wax to ensure a clean, slow burn that wouldn't damage the ceramic. We then matched the wax colour perfectly to complement the subtle blue plum of the mug's glaze.

• The Finish: To truly complete the piece, we topped the cooling wax with delicate, scented wax flowers, tying the whole design together and crafting a little piece of art.

It was a magical moment for us when she came to collect the candle - and her face lit up! Her treasured item had become a beautiful, fragrant keepsake that perfectly captured her memories.
